The international CFA Institute Research Challenge is a renown student competition in Poland. The final at Warsaw Stock Exchange allowed us to see which team advances to the EMEA final by presenting the best valuation of PZU SA. Which university attracts the most professional students?
The EMEA final in Jordan will have one team from the local CFA Society Poland challenge and that would be the representatives of SFH Warsaw School of Economics: Magdalena Lewińska, Wojciech Koj, Dominik Matuszewski, Radosław Rogowski and Bartłomiej Waśniowski. The task ahead is difficult - they have slightly over a month to prepare their presentation on PZU SA, which will be presented in Jordan on 1-2 April 2020. Should they succeed, they will advance to the global final in New York City.
Research Challenge as usual brings us a lot of satisfaction. I am happy to see not only the involvement of students, but also their Faculty Advisors and other volunteers, who devote time to those young people. This goes to show that we strive to realise the mission of CFA Society Poland and CFA Institute - providing education for future generations, explains Prof. Krzysztof Jajuga, President of CFA Society Poland.
The 2019-2020 Challenge was not an easy one, as it involved the valuation of a complex financial institution, PZU SA. Those who advanced to the final focus on the feeling of gratification, new skills and private equity competences that they have acquired during the competition. The Target Company also sees added value in supporting CFA Institute Research Challenge:
I would like to congratulate the winners and thank all the participants for their involvement. It is thanks to such brilliant and educated young people that Poland is a country of unlimited possibilities. Their accomplishments, creativity and skills are our capital, our task is to simply activate them. By supporting such projects as Research Challenge, this is what we aim for, says Mr Paweł Surówka, CEO of PZU SA.
Research Challenge was held in Poland for the eleventh time. Each year we have been able to watch its growth in the region. This year, among the finalists, were again students from Lithuania, namely the ISM University of Management and Economics in Vilnius. Apart from them, three other universities made it to the top six: two teams from Kozminski University in Warsaw, two from SGH Warsaw School of Economics, and one from Wroclaw University of Economics and Business.
CFA Society Poland would like to thank all professionals who shared their knowledge with students. Our gratittude goes to mentors, graders, faculty advisers and judges.
The local final would not have been made possible without our partners – this edition's Target Company, PZU SA, our startegic partner Deloitte, as well as our partners: Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, Giełda Papierów Wartościowych and Fundacja GPW. Thank you!
Let's keep our fingers crossed for the students during EMEA finals in Jordan.
